What is EFT & What Can It Do For You?

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as tapping, is an alternative therapy that combines acupressure points on the face and body with cognitive focus to help relieve stress, anxiety, pain, and emotional distress by balancing the body’s energy system. Practitioners gently tap specific meridian points while focusing on a problem and repeating supportive phrases, with the intention of calming the amygdala (the brain’s stress center) and reducing negative emotional responses.

  • Origin: Inspired by principles of ancient Chinese medicine (meridians and energy flow), using fingertips instead of needles.
Components: Combines elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, and acupressure.
  • Goal: To send calming signals to the brain, shifting the nervous system from a fight-or-flight response into a more relaxed state.
  • Usage: Commonly used for stress, anxiety, phobias, PTSD, physical discomfort, and emotional challenges. It is a self-administered technique and not a replacement for professional care in severe conditions.

“What we resist not only persists, but will grow in size.”
